The Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory’s mission is to advance the deep scientific understanding of nature that promotes informed stewardship of the Earth. The Lab accomplishes this by providing scientists and students access to diverse natural habitats, infrastructure for high-quality research and education, and a dynamic, collaborative, internationally recognized scientific community. Scientists build on an unusually broad base of knowledge about the ecology of high-altitude habitats, accumulated over decades of research. The combination of a deeply understood place, tools for further investigation, and outstanding people makes the RMBL an ideal training ground for the next generation of leaders in education and research in the field sciences.

The Lab depends on the support of our members. There are a number of ways you can be involved.

Make a donation to the Lab. Your donations make our work possible. Your tax-deductible gift will enable the Lab to:

provide a scholarship to a deserving student
upgrade our housing and research facilities
improve our information systems and archive data from the Lab that pre-dates computers
restore Gothic’s historic structures
protect the land that is our living laboratory
build the Lab’s endowments
Visit and stay in Gothic! We have housing available in the fall, and for those who like to ski, we set aside several cabins for winter visitors.

Join us for the annual 4th of July festivities. Volunteers are always welcome. The annual 4th of July race starts at the Gothic Town Hall. We have a barbecue for members and residents in the Enders Dining Hall starting at 6 pm. Enjoy wonderful food and reconnect with old friends.

Host a regional get together and share your memories with other members and alumni.

Volunteer with a scientist for a day. Join a research group and get a glimpse of what it’s like to do field work.Don’t miss our mid-August prime rib dinner and tour of our historic facilities. It’s always a popular event.
